Introducing: Resting
Where my soul finds rest.
This series of landscapes entitled “Resting” features a minimalist style that focuses more on technique than on the place. It’s a study of light versus dark, muted colors versus bright eye-catching ones, simplicity versus complexity, peace and rest versus chaos and busyness. Suffice it to say, the dark makes the light shine out brighter. The muted, moody colors create a feeling of reflection. The simplicity of each scene instills a sense of peace, tranquility and steadiness.
Our busy culture tells us that our jobs, children, schedules, social status, worries, trials, etc. reign supreme and bring ultimate fulfillment. But God calls us to look outside this world for our satisfaction. To trust His sovereignty alone. To rest in His goodness for our joy and His faithfulness for our comfort. To depend on Him in our suffering. And to delight in the simplicity and majesty of His love.
If you’re like me, this is a message my heart needs daily. I need a regular reminder that my soul finds rest in God alone.
